The Sheet Society is a popular Australian Bedding Brand. I’ve been using their sheets for the past two years. Here’s my review of Sheet Society sheets and bedding for 2023:
What I like about The Sheet Society
High Quality
Sheet Society is a premium bedding brand. Compared to many of the “premium brands” like Sheradin, Sheet Society sheets actually feel like they are better quality; both in fabric and craftsmanship. They also have some unique design details (which I’ll touch on more below) which make them stand out from other brands.
Fitted Sheets Actually Fit
Our bed has a deep mattress. It was extremely difficult to find fitted sheets that would fit. The Sheet Society has put really deep sides on the fitted sheets so they actually will fit on different mattress types. They also have a thicker band of elastic so there is no worries that they will stretch out.
Zippers on Quilt Covers
Buttons and Press Studs are the first things that break on a quilt cover – even if you’re super careful! The Quilt Covers from Sheet Society come with a zipper. Yes, this means it will cost more to manufacture, but it’s such a handy feature. You don’t need to worry about the quilt cover breaking and it creates a really clean look.
Mix and Match
Bedding sets from Sheet Society don’t come prepackaged. You can pick and choose the different elements to make up a perfect set. This is great if for example you use a different sized quilt to your bed, or have 4 pillows.
They have a great bed designed tool that you can use to build the bedding set of your dreams and see how it will look on a virtual bed.
Multiple Fabric Types
Sheet Society sheets come in a variety of fabrics including Cotton and Linen. They also have the old fashioned (but much loved) flannelette sheets. I’ve tried both the Cotton and Linen sheets and the fabric is very good.
Sheet Society Cons
Expensive
Sheet Society bedding is expensive! You’ll may pay a little more than most sheet sets available at department stores. While you can get cheaper sheets, I don’t think you can get cheaper for the same quality.
Made Overseas
Sheet Society sheets aren’t made in Australia. While I would love to see them made locally I can understand them being made overseas. Australia doesn’t really manufacture bedding locally anymore and most large brands manufacture out of china.
Is it worth getting Sheet Society Sheets?
Yes! Sheet Society sheets are actually premium bedding sets. The fabric is high quality. I’ve been using their sheets exclusively for the past two years and they have held up really well. Because the quilts use a zipper and the fitted sheets have a good amount of elastic, there isn’t anything that is going to fall apart easily.
While you will pay a premium for these sheets, I think they are absolutely worth it. A linen set of sheets are going to last a long time, potentially a lifetime so it’s worth the investment.
Sheet Society Thread Count?
It’s nice to see Sheet Society hasn’t fallen into the marketing scam of selling sheets by Thread Count. A higher thread count does not equate to a higher quality sheet. Some manufacturers use marketing techniques to inflate thread counts artificially, making their products seem more luxurious than they are. For instance, they might use multi-ply yarns (two or more threads twisted together) and count each individual thread, rather than the yarn itself, to achieve a higher thread count. This practice can lead to a dense and heavy fabric that is not necessarily more comfortable or durable. Even 5-star hotels don’t use sheets that have ridiculously high thread counts as it just makes uncomfortable bedding.
The most uncomfortable sheets I’ve owned had a super high thread count. They were terrible. Sheet Society Sheets use an appropriate thread count that makes them feel solid but still incredibly comfortable.
